Cargill not stop buying CPO Smart

Agribusiness from United State, Cargill Tropical Palm-Indonesia will continue to buy CPO from PT Sinar Mas Agro Resources Technology (SMART).

Cargill continues this step because they do not find any evidences that shows SMART has done an illegal logging. Cargil Public Affairs Director, Rudolf Saut said that SMART  had a commitment to Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO), an institution of stakeholder on palm oil.

About 60% of Cargill\'s CPO came from RSPO certified companies. Saut said that demand from CPO had kept increasing, but consumers in Europe concerns about environment issues.

Prior to this, Cargill had announced that they would stop buying CPO from SMART  while a report from greenpeace  stated that the company has done an illegal land conversion. Report from Greenpeace has made Unilever and Nestle stop buying CPO from SMART
