Indonesia imports  hardwood from US

Indonesia becomes a hardwood potential market from US. Import of hardwood is predicted to reach US$37 million in this year and will be increased in next the 2-3 years. Furniture downstream industry that using hardwood is significantly increasing, especially contemporary furnitures.

Michael Buckley of American Hardwood Export Council (AHEC) optimists that Indonesian market can compete with Vietnam which does not have wood creativity as good as Indonesia. Beside that labor cost in Indonesia is relatively stable. Indonesia has creativity and culture that usually use wood as a medium.

AHEC will not replace all types of wood originally from Indonesia because there are some differences structures and types from both countries. AHEC is trying to enrich wood treasure and creativity by using wood as medium for creativity.
